Your Opportunity:
The Department of Psychosocial Oncology and Spiritual Resources at Alberta Health Services is seeking a dedicated Clinical Psychologist II. This role is integral in providing support to the outpatient oncology population, as well as inpatients, ensuring comprehensive care at our facilities. You will be part of a dynamic, multi-disciplinary team that includes psychologists, social workers, spiritual health practitioners, and specialty patient navigators. Your work will focus on addressing the psychosocial needs of patients and their families, making a significant impact on their cancer journey.
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver advanced clinical psychological services tailored to the needs of both inpatient and outpatient oncology patients, encompassing screening, assessment, and therapeutic interventions.
- Utilize clinical judgment to navigate the complex healthcare requirements of patients and families affected by cancer.
- Design and implement psychological treatment programs for individuals and families, which may include individual, group, and family therapy.
Position Overview:
As a Clinical Psychologist II, you will engage in advanced clinical practices, which include psychological assessment, diagnosis, and intervention. You will also provide consultation and education to both the interprofessional team and patients/families. This role involves clinical leadership and coordination within a designated program area, allowing you to collaborate with teams to enhance service delivery for patients with multifaceted medical and psychological needs.
In this position, you will be expected to:
- Consult and collaborate on initiatives that ensure evidence-based practices align with psychology standards and ethical guidelines.
- Lead and participate in the development of programs, policies, and procedures, as well as staff training and quality improvement initiatives.
- Supervise and mentor doctoral psychology residents, master's level interns, provisional psychologists, and other team members.
Required Qualifications:
A doctoral degree in Psychology from a Canadian Psychological Association (CPA) or American Psychological Association (APA) accredited program is essential. Consideration may be given to an equivalent combination of education and experience. Candidates must be active or eligible for registration with the College of Alberta Psychologists (CAP).
Preferred Qualifications:
At least one year of experience with electronic medical records (such as ARIA/EPIC/Connect care) is preferred. Experience in health psychology and in mentoring and supervising trainees, including pre-doctoral residents and students, is also advantageous.
