Job Title: Temporary Full Time Client Partner, Human Resources

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Temporary Full Time Client Partner, Human Resources to join our team in Surrey, B.C. This is an exciting opportunity to utilize your rare blend of relational and interpersonal skills, advising and labour relations expertise in a dynamic and important role where you can really make a difference.

Job Summary:

This position is responsible for providing human resource consultation, advice and support to assigned departments in Fraser Health. The successful candidate will promote and foster a consultative and problem-solving labour relations approach towards management, employees and unions by providing consistent application and advice on collective agreements, legislation and policies and procedures.

Responsibilities:
  • Consults with managers, directors and other clients on operational issues and assists them to meet strategic goals and effective operation of their human resources.
  • Provides advice and guidance to managers, employees and others regarding the interpretation and administration of various collective agreements, local agreements, legislation and policies.
  • Investigates labour relations issues and complaints; researches appropriate jurisprudence and industry practices.
  • Promotes constructive union-management relations through respectful communication and interest-based problem-solving.
  • Identifies management education needs regarding human resource issues; assists with developing and presenting appropriate related educational programs.
  • Maintains records such as a grievance tracking data base and statistics on labour relations activities.
  • Remains current in human rights, employment and other related legislation; health care collective agreements and human resource practices.
  • Participates on industry committees to maintain knowledge of current and future trends and changes in labour relations.
Qualifications:

University Degree in a field related to Human Resource Management, plus five (5) years' recent, related experience in human resources in a unionized environment, or an equivalent combination of education and experience that is acceptable to the Health Authority.

  • Demonstrated ability to deal effectively with others in a highly sensitive labour climate;
  • Demonstrated ability to handle change effectively and model effective behaviours for others;
  • Demonstrated ability to operate related equipment including computers and appropriate software programs;
  • Physical ability to perform the duties of the position.
