The Role

Our client is looking for a Senior Specialist to support their Talent team in Calgary. You will play a crucial role within a dynamic team, and you will be involved in organizing and driving the lawyer performance management process nationally and providing support in various partner processes. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in human resources, excellent attention to detail, and the ability to communicate effectively at all levels.



Your main responsibilities will include:



Performance Management:

  • Organize and manage the national lawyer performance management process.
  • Draft the annual performance management timeline and prepare communications.
  • Liaise with IT for system setup and ensure timely information flow.
  • Provide technical support and proactive reporting on process advancement.
  • Assist in planning Career and Mid-year Conversations.


Annual Compensation and Bonus Review:

  • Collaborate with Finance to generate and update financial charts.
  • Review and update compensation letter templates.
  • Coordinate with Talent Services and Payroll for compensation letters.
  • Draft communications regarding payouts and bonuses.


Partner Processes:

  • Support the Executive Director in Partnership Admission and Post Retirement processes.
  • Prepare summary charts, draft emails, schedule meetings, and manage documents.


Other Tasks:

  • Assist in preparing attrition data reports and ad hoc reports.
  • Maintain process calendars, data records, and national templates.
  • Manage shared team folders and participate in process improvements.
  • Answer queries related to Talent Advisory - Legal processes.
  • Perform other related duties as required.




The ideal candidate will come with the following qualifications:



  • Degree in Human Resources, Administration, or other related fields.
  • Minimum 4+ years in a HR Generalist role within professional services.
  • Experience in a professional services environment is considered an asset.
  • Ability to produce thorough and accurate work with excellent attention to detail.
  • Effective communication skills, both oral and written. Bilingualism is ideal.
  • Strong interpersonal relations skills.
  • Proficiency in MS Office suite: MS Word, MS Excel, MS Outlook, MS PowerPoint.
  • Sound judgment, discretion, and confidentiality.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team, take initiative, and prioritize actions.
  • Manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment, work under pressure, and meet strict deadlines.
  • Adaptability and flexibility to change.
