Key Responsibilities:

  • Strategic Leadership: Lead and oversee the R&D team, setting the strategic direction for product formulation and development.
  • Innovation: Drive the formulation development of pouch format dietary supplements and natural health products, ensuring they meet market needs and regulatory standards.
  • Project Management: Manage all aspects of product development, from initial concept through to commercialization, including project scopes, timelines, risk assessments, and mitigation plans.
  • Technical Expertise: Serve as the lead technical expert, designing and executing experimental work, analyzing data, and making informed recommendations to overcome technical challenges.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work closely with internal teams (Marketing, QA, Operations, Supply Chain) and external partners (suppliers, customers) to align R&D efforts with business objectives.
  • Product Optimization: Enhance existing formulations for improved stability, bioavailability, and manufacturability.
  • Industry Trends: Stay abreast of new ingredients, technologies, category trends, and regulatory changes, leveraging these insights to drive innovation.
  • Supplier Collaboration: Partner with raw material, instrument, and equipment suppliers to introduce new ingredients, technologies, and concepts to VMHS formulations.
  • Leadership Support: Assist the Chief Growth Officer and Leadership Team in initiating and managing both short and long-term R&D projects to develop a robust new product development (NPD) pipeline.


Qualifications:

  • Ph.D. in a related scientific field.
  • Minimum of 5 years of post-PhD experience in product development and formulation of natural health products.
  • Experience in sports nutrition is a plus.
  • Familiarity with FDA regulatory requirements for dietary supplements is beneficial.
  • Strong background in process development, engineering, and manufacturing.
  • Proven ability to manage the scale-up of formulation production and tech transfer activities.
  • Demonstrated success in establishing new capabilities and innovative strategies in scientific excellence.
