WISE Trust - Workplace Insurance and Safety Employee Trust - is the defined benefit pension plan for almost 10,000 active, deferred, and retired workplace insurance and safety employees of Ontario.

WISE Trust was established to give the Workplace Safety and Insurance Board (WSIB) and the Ontario


Compensation Employees' Union (OCEU) an equal voice in the administration of the pension plan through a jointly sponsored pension plan.

WISE Trust governed by a Board of Trustees, four appointed by the WSIB and four appointed by OCEU.

This position offers a unique opportunity for an experienced Corporate Secretary to continue building and managing WISE Trust's governance processes, while providing guidance to the Board of Trustees and its four standing committees.


Working with a small and mighty team, you will support the ongoing growth of our governance practices and assist with the transition of our Board to a more strategic oversight role for the future.

You will be responsible for ensuring that sound governance practices are followed, and accurate corporate records are maintained. You will also support the Board in defining its strategic plan and effectively executing it.

Position Requirements:

  • 5+ years of advising on governance matters and managing communication between a Board and the business
  • Experience with minutetaking, standardizing motions, preparing meeting materials, tracking outstanding action items to completion, and coordinating meeting logistics
  • Prior experience or expected aptitude for setting up templates, systems, and processes to support a Board
  • Strong written communication skills with experience taking technical information and documenting it in a comprehensible format
  • High level of confidentiality and discretion
  • Experience with online Board portals, Passageways OnBoard preferred
  • Advanced computer skills in MS Word, Outlook, Teams and Zoom; intermediate skills in Excel and PowerPoint
  • Selfstarter with a proven ability to consistently meet deadlines and demonstrate appropriate sense of urgency
  • Postsecondary education in public administration, law, or business
  • Pension industry and training in Governance topics is preferred
  • GPC.D or other related designation is preferred
