A bout The Hilary and Galen Weston Foundation
The HGWF is a private family foundation whose goal is to contribute to charities whose bold ideas shape a better future for everyone. Since its founding in 2019, the foundation has granted close to $45 million to organizations focused on women’s equality; the arts; humanitarian relief; medical research and support; The Manager, Grants and Operations, plays a critical part in managing the foundation’s current grants portfolio; and managing the foundation’s day-to-day operations. In this position, they will apply their exceptional analytic, communication, and organizational skills to the ongoing success of one of Canada’s leading foundations.
The Manager, Grants and Operations, reports to the Executive Director and also supports her work for a related UK-based family foundation, which focuses on neurodegenerative diseases of aging research and support programs.

Grants Management
Manages a portfolio of grants:
Drafts quantitative and qualitative reports on the impact of the foundation’s granting
Supports management of donor recognition
Keeps abreast of challenges, opportunities, and new practices in current and prospective funding areas and provides briefs to the Executive Director
Grants Management System (GMS): Provides back-up support when the foundation’s Grants Coordinator is unavailable
Proactively looks for system and process improvements and supports implementation
Drafts meeting minutes and meeting packages, including data visualization
Assists in monitoring the foundation’s disbursements against its annual granting budget
Manages or supports additional administrative duties as required
Attends relevant events and conferences to build the foundation’s relationships and knowledge base
Supports special events and projects, as needed

Experience and/or education related to one or more of the foundation’s interest areas
~ Experience working for a family foundation or family business is an asset
~ Strong analytical skills, including the ability to create a variety of graphs and charts from grants and financial data
~ Experience with grants management software is an asset; High proficiency with Microsoft Office and other standard office applications (Microsoft Teams, SharePoint, and PowerPoint) is an asset
~ Demonstrated ability to organize and manage multiple demands and priorities, with a minimum of direction, in a fast-paced environment
~ Clair Avenue East, Toronto, office three days per week
~ Ability to travel occasionally for conferences, events, and site visits is an asset
