This position supports the western territory within Ontario, covering west of the GTA, down to but excluding the Niagara region. Travel and networking events are required, and may happen outside of standard business hours.
This position promotes value to external and internal stakeholders through development of the distribution force of the company. Serving as a communication link between the distribution force and the company, the BDM acts as an information conduit, building relationships through face-to-face meetings, training, email, telephone, marketing, and co-op advertising initiatives. The BDM will act as a key contributor in all business development related activities to support the distribution of the company’s products and services to expand the business and achieve the company’s strategic growth and profitability objectives.

Significant breadth of industry contacts including, but not limited to, other Ontario Farm Mutuals to support competitive intelligence within CMIG
You will be highly Organized and have excellent Time Management skills
Collaborate with Underwriting, Distribution and the Business Innovation team in the review of products and marketing of new product lines
Analysis of broker reports, underwriting results, financial/CPC statements and loss runs to demonstrate the ability to fully interpret the data within.
Take part in business planning and segmentation initiatives.
Actively prospect and contract with new distribution partnerships as defined within the company’s territory.
Examine and understand wordings- coverages, exclusions, as well as underwriting guidelines in order to provide recommendations to the Business Innovation team for changes based on distribution force and industry feedback.
Make recommendations for new products and enhancement of existing products based on competitive intelligence obtained from the field.
Participate and support marketing strategies to promote profitable growth and brand awareness.
Support implementation of marketing campaigns.
Collaborate with Underwriting & Distribution and Brand & Communications to maintain inventory of marketing material; company giveaways, draw prizes and company promotional material.
Collaborate with Underwriting & Distribution and Marketing & Communications in development of broker advertising in local media.
Collaborate with and support Leader Marketing & Communications in implementation of Company’s marketing initiatives.
Liaison between all departments to ensure branding consistency in all documentation and marketing material (i. e. Support, participate & collaborate with the Training Specialist within the Underwriting department to conduct broker/agent education seminars as required/if needed.
Post-Secondary education in the field of Business, with a focus on insurance is required.
Access to reliable transportation and a valid G Driver’s License.
Industry related designations are an asset.
Strong computer literacy, proficiency in Microsoft Office, with ability to learn and adapt to using new software.
Ability to relate guidelines and policies, production reports, claims analysis and financial statements to communicate strategies.
Advanced time management, organizational, analytical, and evaluative skills.
Ability to be creative and innovative in the thinking process.
