Data Center Manager

Found in: Talent CA C2 - 5 days ago

Calgary, Canada Amazon Data Services Canada, Inc. Full time
At Amazon, we're working to be Earth's most customer-centric Company and Earth's Best Employer. To get there, we need exceptionally talented, bright, and driven people. If you'd like to help us build and expand the Cloud in Canada, this is your chance to make history.

The Infrastructure Operations organization is looking for an individual with proven and tested leadership experience in people management, strong technical understanding and the drive and vision to take AWS Data Centre Operations to the next level. The successful candidate will have experience creating/devising strategies, mentoring people in all levels, sponsoring projects and proposing technical solutions. This position involves leading teams in hardware and network diagnostics followed by physical repair and includes participation in an on-call rotation. All candidates should be willing to work both independently and managing their teams effectively. Work prioritization, organizational skills, effective communication, and the ability to react quickly are critical to being successful. In addition to strong knowledge in Data Centers, hardware and network repair, candidates will create documentation, innovate solutions, participate in site-level project work, and fix complex problems within the Data Center Space. This team works in an environment that operates 24/7.

The successful candidate must have the ability to obtain and maintain a Canadian Personnel Security Clearance to the required level, as a condition of employment.

As set out in the Standard on security screening, the personnel security screening assesses an individual's reliability and loyalty to Canada. It involves:
the collection of personal information from individuals, with their consent information from law enforcement, intelligence agencies and other sources

This process includes a variation of verifications based on the level required. These verifications are conducted through Public Service and Procurement Canada (PSPC) and can include, but are not limited to:
Verification of identity, citizenship, education, professional credentials, personal and professional references, credit check and/or criminal background check.

Individuals may also be required to provide additional information through a security questionnaire and/or in-person/telephone security interview at the request of/conducted by PSPC.

To obtain the requisite clearance within required timelines, applicants must have five (5) years of continuous Canadian residency and must not have lived or worked outside of Canada for more than six (6) consecutive months during that time.
