As the Peer Support Nurse Therapist, reporting to the Manager, Organizational Wellness, you will provide mental health expertise and consultation, crisis management and clinical intervention for members of the Calgary Police Service (CPS). You will collaborate and provide consultation for employees within the Wellness and Resiliency Division of CPS. Specific duties include:

Facilitate wellness trainings, critical incident wellness sessions, code 900 deployments and crisis support for the Service. Provide prevention and early mental health intervention services including assertive outreach, critical incident wellness debriefs, individual member and/or organizational support and referral services. Work collaboratively with mental health providers, health practitioners, Psychological Therapies Section (PTS), Peer Support, Reintegration, Early Intervention and treatment providers in the evaluation, identification, and implementation of plans that will assist employees in addressing the psychological health issues impacting their ability to perform their assigned duties and tasks. Provide clinical leadership, coaching and provide functional and collegial guidance to peer support team, reintegration team and service in collaboration with PTS. Help develop and implement psychological health related strategists, systems, policies, procedures and training programs. Present training sessions on psychological health to CPS members. Qualifications  A degree in Nursing or Psychiatric Nursing, advanced clinical mental health training/education in assessments, operational stress injuries, crisis intervention, risk assessment and suicide interventions, plus 8 years of experience in a mental health field is required. Must be registered and in good standing with the College of Registered Nurses of Alberta (CRNA) or equivalent. Demonstrated experience and/or training in motivational interviewing, Cognitive Behavior Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), ACT, Mindfulness grounded in trauma informed care required. Experience in trauma-informed treatment modalities (, Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), Accelerated Resolution Therapy, Prolonged Exposure or trauma-focused CBT) is an asset. The successful applicant with be competent in coaching and development, communication, efficiency and thoroughness, planning and prioritizing, relationship building, self-confidence and service orientation.
