BY Day Camp Skate Instructor (Contract)

Brookfield Residential YMCA at Seton

Start Date: June 10th, 2024

End Date: August 23rd, 2024

**Salary**: $17.50/hour

What qualifications are we looking for?
- Experience volunteering or working with children in a recreation setting;
- National Coaching Certification Program (NCCP) and/or Can Skate Certification would be considered an asset; Minimum two years’ experience teaching skate lessons to children and youth;
- Current Standard First Aid with CPR-C certified within 12 months
- Evidence of a clear Police Information Check with Vulnerable Sector Search within 12 months
- Available from July through August, weekdays
- Available evenings and weekends from June 10 to June 23, 2024 for training

What does this role look like at YMCA Calgary?

Duties and Responsibilities include;
- Provide a fun, safe, and healthy environment for children registered in YMCA Calgary Day Camps
- Provide proactive supervision and facilitate daily activities
- Work alongside camp counselors and staff when executing activities and lesson plans
- Record and report daily/weekly summary of activities to supervisor
- Implement and execute daily lesson plans
- Lead skate related activities and learning opportunities in both on and off-ice sessions such as dryland physical literacy and conditioning training
- Demonstrate and role model positive behavior when working with other staff, campers and members
- Follow YMCA Calgary Policies and Procedures
- Provide first aid when required
