**Position Summary**:
The Information Services Assistant - GIS Summer Student is a seasonal position responsible for providing support in GIS, 360 road scanning, projects, and other support or assistance duties for the Information Services team.

**Responsibilities**
- Prepare graphics, maps, and spatial analysis for the department
- Input and update geographical data into GIS systems, ensuring accuracy and completeness
- Modify and edit existing geographic data based on new information or project requirements
- Perform quality control checks to ensure data integrity and consistency
- Assist the GIS team with organizing, processing, and analyzing GIS data for various projects
- Maintain detailed records of data entry and modifications for future reference
- Provide support services by responding to internal service request inquiries by staff for ongoing and ad hoc projects and records
- Attend team meetings and provide input as part of the team
- Ensure adherence to all applicable Wheatland County policies and bylaws
- Ensure compliance with OH&S including attendance at safety meetings, being properly trained in OH&S related topics, and ensuring work is completed in a safe manner
- Appropriately, and in a timely manner complete administrative tasks (e.g., timesheets; reports), when required
- Relate to and communicate with co-workers, management, and vendors sincerely, clearly, tactfully, promptly and courteously; respond to inquiries promptly and professionally
- Perform tasks, consistent with the position, including special projects / assignments and administrative duties as may be required on an ad hoc basis

**Qualifications**
- Is working towards education in or has experience in one or more of the following roles, Geographic Information Systems (GIS), Geomatics, Spatial Analysis, Geography, Information Technology
- Valid Class 5 Alberta drivers’ license
- Effective organizational and time management skills
- Effective interpersonal and written communication skills
- Ability to work independently and as a part of a team to help maintain our information services
- Strong work ethic and self-motivation
- Collaborative, open communicator and able to work using collaboration tools such as MS Teams

**Working Conditions**
- Working hours are 7.5 hours per day, five days per week.
- Lifting boxes up to 50 pounds or 23 kilograms

**Job Type**: Seasonal
Contract length: 5-6 months

Schedule:

- 8 hour shift
- Monday to Friday

Work Location: In person
