Westhills EVS is located 10 minutes west of Stony Plain, Alberta and 30 minutes west of Edmonton and is easily accessed off of TransCanada Highway 16 on Range Road 25. You must have reliable transportation as we are not on a bus route.

**THE JOB**
The Repro Vet Assistant role is seasonal, starting in March and ending in mid to late August. The goal is to make the repro day as efficient as possible and complete repro tasks with a high degree of care and accuracy.

Repro Assistants for 10 hours per day, 4 days per week which includes some weekends.
A.M. Repro Assistant: 7 am to 5 pm
P.M. Repro Assistant: 8 am to 6 pm

**A.M. Repro Assistant Tasks**
- Repro Vet Support - On farm appointments: stock vet vehicle and pack any required equipment. Directly assist the Repro DVM with ambulatory appointments. Work with the P.M. Repro DVM to complete the mare list and any frozen semen breeds.
- Repro Clinic Organization & Prep - Stock treatment carts, medicine carts and lab area. List items that need to be ordered. Setup for stallion collection and processing of semen. Assist Repro Intern with packaging semen shipments and cleaning up after collection. Complete end-of-date tasks: clean up the reproduction department and stock fluids, medicine and ultrasound carts.
- Patient Care - Administer oxy parties and ovulation induction medications. Assist reception check mares in. Prepare meds for discharge. Complete end-of-day tasks: Evaluate foaling out mares and clean foalalerts. Wrap tails and move into north barn if necessary.
- Client Care - Update clients as mares come through the stocks, as directed by the DVM. Text owners when their patient is ready for pickup (or direct reception to do so).
- Other - Attend morning rounds meetings. Attend monthly staff meetings. Assist and train new repro assistants as required. Other duties as reasonably requested.

**P.M. Repro Assistant Tasks**
- Repro Vet Support - Review the schedule for the day and add extender/embryo flush bags to the incubator. Assist repro vet while working through the morning mare list. Process uterine lavage tubes. Set up and directly assist with embryo transfers and transfers at embryo barn.
- Patient Care - Assist intern with neonatal exams, umbilical dip and post-foaling mare exams. Complete the morning task list - fresh semen arrivals, lavages, cultures/cytology, and morning treatments. Monitor new foal’s activity. Daily end-of-day checks of foaling out mares which includes cleaning foalalerts, vulva, and udders.
- Client Care - Update clients as mares come through the stocks, as directed by DVM.
- Front End Support - Check with Reception at the beginning of the day to see if there is anything they need and if there are prescriptions that need to be filled.
- Other - as above.
