**Position Summary**:
The Accounting/Administrative Assistant - Summer Student is a seasonal position responsible for providing accounting and administrative duties for Corporate and Financial Services. This role will provide support for Financial Services during the property tax season, as well as Corporate Services support related to ad-hoc project work within Wheatland County.

**Responsibilities**
- Assist customers at the front reception counter pertaining to general inquiries and covering for the Office Administrator in their absence.
- Sort and distribute incoming mail and prepare outgoing mail.
- Utilize office equipment including the photocopier, printers, and computer for Microsoft Word processing and Excel spreadsheet creation.
- Monitor office supply inventory levels; communicate / report to applicable team members regarding shortages and re-ordering needs.
- Attend weekly Corporate and Financial Services meetings.
- Ensure adherence to all applicable Wheatland County policies and bylaws.
- Ensure compliance with OH&S including attendance at safety meetings, being properly trained in OH&S related topics, and ensuring work is completed in a safe manner.
- Appropriately, and in a timely manner complete administrative tasks (e.g., timesheets; reports), when required.
- Relate to and communicate with co-workers, management, customers and vendors sincerely, clearly, tactfully, promptly and courteously; respond to inquiries and complaints promptly and professionally.
- Perform tasks, consistent with the position, including special projects / assignments, as may be required on an ad hoc basis.

**Qualifications**
- Valid Class 5 Alberta drivers’ licence
- Experienced, proficient, and comfortable working with computers and learning new software, as well as using software such as Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook
- Effective organizational and time management skills
- Effective interpersonal and written communication skills
- Ability to work independently and as a part of a team to help maintain efficient office operations
- Strong work ethic and self-motivation
- Experience working in an administrative / office support / clerical role including office procedures
- Experience using various office equipment (e.g., photocopier, printers, scanners)

**Working Conditions**
- Working hours are 7.5 hours per day, five days per week; approximately May - September.

**Job Type**: Seasonal
Contract length: 5-6 months

Schedule:

- 8 hour shift
- Monday to Friday
