**Adult Connections Development Coordinator - Volunteer Position**

**About the Lower Mainland Down Syndrome Society.**
The Lower Mainland Down Syndrome Society is a not-for-profit society, established in 1989. Our members believe that individuals with Down syndrome are capable of full participation in society and should be given the opportunity to develop their potential.

To make this mission come to life, the Lower Mainland Down Syndrome Society aims to:

- Provide information, support, and resources to individuals with Down Syndrome in BC and their families
- Provide information about Down Syndrome and resources to people and organizations who support individuals with Down Syndrome and their families
- Advocate those governments and appropriate agency provide the special resources often needed by individuals with Down Syndrome and their families
- Lobby for appropriate educational, vocational, and social opportunities
- Support families and increase public awareness
- Network with other organizations and individuals

**PURPOSE OF ROLE**
- The Adult Connections Development Coordinator is responsible for developing, implementing, and evaluating programs for adults with developmental and intellectual disabilities in the community.

**ACCOUNTABILITIES**
- Research, Develop and Deliver an engaging program schedule for adults with Down syndrome.
- Assessing the program and schedule by communicating with the intended participants and the Executive Director for suggestions and feedback.
- Promote the program as agreed with the Executive Director
- Ongoing and timely communication with the group participants to encourage involvement and engagement in a variety of activities such as sports, entertainment, cultural and education experiences.
- Lead a team of volunteers to ensure the safety and enjoyment of the participants.
- Work with community organizations to promote inclusion of adults with developmental and intellectual disabilities.
- Maintain accurate attendance, medical, and emergency information and documentation, providing all original documents to the Executive Director.
- Provide feedback and program data to the Executive Director as requested.
- Promote LMDSS (Lower Mainland Down Syndrome Society) membership.

**SKILLS/QUALIFICATIONS**
- Excellent creative communication skills with group participants and membership
- Outgoing, Friendly, Reliable team player
- Willingness to learn and share information about Down syndrome and LMDSS
- Seek out opportunities for presentations, expos, fairs, community, and non-profit organization events
- Keep track of mileage, volunteer hours, admission fees and provide a monthly report, and any receipts to the Executive Director
- Excellent professional written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills
- Time management
