**Position Overview**:
We’re seeking a motivated, creative and detail-oriented Social Media Coordinator to manage all of the social media requirements for Pets and Friends, including our website and platforms such as Facebook, Twitter, Instagram and YouTube, and help us share the incredible stories of our therapy teams and community impact. This remote, part-time position (approximately 8 hours per week) is ideal for someone passionate about pets, people, and building strong networks.
This role is ideal for someone who loves animals, storytelling, and building community through engaging digital content.
**Key Responsibilities**:
- Develop and implement a social media calendar to highlight events, volunteer stories, therapy visits, and fundraising campaigns.
- Create, schedule, and post engaging content (images, videos, stories, and graphics) across platforms.
- Monitor engagement and respond to messages, comments, and tags in a timely, compassionate voice.
- Update and maintain our organization’s website.
- Coordinate with staff and volunteers to gather stories, photos, and updates.
- Track and report on performance metrics and audience growth.
- Stay up to date with social media trends and best practices, especially within nonprofit and pet-related spaces.
**Qualifications**:
- Experience managing social media accounts for a brand, nonprofit, or organization.
- Proficiency with social media platforms (Facebook, Twitter/X, Instagram, LinkedIn)
- Experience updating and maintaining websites
- Excellent written communication and storytelling skills.
- Passion for animal welfare, therapy, or community-based nonprofits.
- Basic graphic design and/or video editing skills (e.g., Canva, Adobe tools) a plus.
- Based in or near Vancouver, with occasional availability on weekends for orientations or events.
- Must be able to obtain and maintain a valid criminal record check.
**Nice to Have**:
- Photography or videography skills
- Knowledge of SEO and basic analytics
