We are seeking a skilled Day Camp Counsellor to join our team of professionals at the Poplar location in Timmins. This full-time contract position involves program planning and delivery to ensure participant satisfaction under the guidance of the Supervisor of Recreational Programming or Manager of Day Camps and Community Development.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design and implement engaging daily programs incorporating group games, crafts, swimming, and outdoor activities
  • Supervise and participate with program participants in group activities, promoting socialization and skill development
  • Apply behavior management techniques to create a safe and inclusive environment
  • Communicate effectively with staff members to ensure seamless operations
  • Maintain the safety of all participants, property, staff, and volunteers by adhering to established practices and procedures
  • Manage inventory and request supplies as needed
  • Welcome children to programs and provide exceptional customer service
  • Represent the YMCA professionally at all times
  • Daily communication with parents regarding their child's participation and experience
  • Track attendance and maintain accurate records
  • Foster relationships with members and guests, promoting the YMCA as a charitable organization

Qualifications and Requirements:

  • Possession of an Ontario Secondary School Diploma (OSSD) preferred
  • Experience working/leading group activities with children aged 3-12 years
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong interpersonal skills
  • Current Standard First Aid and CPR C certification
  • A valid and satisfactory Police Record with Vulnerable Sector Check
