About the RoleThis Relief Residential Counsellor position is available with the Cochrane Temiskaming Resource Centre (CTRC) in Timmins, South Porcupine, and Porcupine. CTRC is a regional Developmental Services provider offering programs across the Districts of Temiskaming and Cochrane, including coastal communities along James and Hudson Bay.
The successful candidate will work in community residential homes providing support to individuals with Developmental Disabilities. This includes assistance with activities of daily living, leisure, recreational, interpersonal interactions, medical, and personal care.
Job ResponsibilitiesThe primary responsibilities of this role include:
- Providing 24-hour support to residents in community residential homes;
- Assisting with activities of daily living, such as bathing, dressing, and feeding;
- Supporting residents with medical and personal care needs;
- Encouraging residents to participate in leisure and recreational activities;
- Maintaining accurate records of resident activities and progress.
To be considered for this Relief Residential Counsellor position, you must possess one of the following:
- A Developmental Service Worker Diploma;
- A Child and Youth Worker Program Diploma with pharmacology;
- A Practical Nurse Program Diploma;
- A Personal Support Worker (PSW) certificate with pharmacology.
A valid G-class driver's license and double vaccination against COVID-19 are also required. Bilingualism is an asset.
BenefitsAs a Relief Worker, you will have opportunities to accept temporary contracts with set hours and apply for part-time and full-time positions as they become available. You will also be offered a defined pension plan with the Healthcare of Ontario Pension Plan (HOOPP) and be eligible from hire date to join the plan. Shift premiums are paid for evening, night shifts, and weekends. Overtime is paid after a daily limit of 12 hours.
