Development Officer, Leadership and Annual Giving

The University of Toronto's Faculty of Law is seeking a highly skilled Development Officer to lead and manage annual giving programs, including direct mail, 1:1 cultivation and solicitation activities, and stewardship. This is an exciting opportunity to join a team of high-performing advancement professionals committed to robust and ambitious philanthropic and alumni engagement goals.
Key Responsibilities- Build and Strengthen Relationships: Develop and maintain strong relationships with stakeholders and partners of strategic importance to support the Faculty's advancement goals.
- Alumni Engagement: Develop and implement alumni engagement activities that support strategic objectives, including conceptualizing, organizing, and executing event activities.
- Fundraising Campaigns: Implement components of fundraising campaigns, including updating prospect databases and portfolios, generating reports, and monitoring accounts for a project and/or program.
- Prospect Identification and Cultivation: Identify, cultivate, and solicit prospects for the annual fund and major gift portfolios.
- Event Planning: Coordinate meeting schedules, agendas, materials, action, and follow-up items for events and activities.
- Education: Bachelor's Degree or acceptable combination of equivalent experience.
- Experience: Minimum five (5) years experience as an advancement professional within leadership, annual, major, and/or planned giving environments, with a demonstrated track record of success.
- Skills: Advanced computer skills, including Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint) and database software, with experience with fundraising database ARBOR or related databases.
- Communication: Excellent communication skills, verbal and written, with the ability to draft, proofread, and edit a range of written material.
- Interpersonal: Exceptional interpersonal skills and professional presence necessary to successfully interact with donors, alumni, senior volunteers, and stakeholders.
- Achievement Oriented: A strong track record of achievement in advancement and fundraising.
- Communicator: Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Goal Oriented: A clear understanding of the Faculty's advancement goals and a proven ability to achieve them.
- Motivated Self-Learner: A strong desire to learn and grow in the role.
- Persuasive: The ability to persuade and influence stakeholders to support the Faculty's advancement goals.
