About the Role:

The University of Toronto is seeking a highly skilled Development Officer to join its team. As a key member of the Development Office, you will play a critical role in building and strengthening relationships with stakeholders and partners of strategic importance.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement strategic partnerships and alumni engagement initiatives that support the University's fundraising objectives.
  • Conceptualize, organize, and execute event activities that foster relationships with key stakeholders and donors.
  • Coordinate meeting schedules, agendas, materials, action items, and follow-up activities to ensure seamless execution.
  • Implement components of fundraising campaigns, including prospect identification, cultivation, solicitation, and recognition.
  • Update prospect databases and portfolios to ensure accurate and timely information.
  • Generate reports to track progress and inform strategic decision-making.
  • Monitor accounts for a project and/or program to ensure effective management and stewardship.

Essential Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree or acceptable combination of equivalent experience.
  • Minimum five (5) years experience as an advancement professional within leadership, annual, major, and/or planned giving environments.
  • Demonstrated experience in a fundraising role or relationship management role with a proven track record of success.
  • Demonstrated prospect identification, cultivation, solicitation, and recognition experience.
  • Demonstrated experience building and strengthening relationships with key donor contacts.
  • Experience conducting development-related research to identify donor prospects and creating tailored fundraising packages.
  • Experience developing components of fundraising campaigns and alumni-engagement activities that support strategic objectives.
  • Demonstrated experience developing, coordinating, and implementing tailored Advancement events and programming to engage donors, prospects, and alumni.
  • Experience managing volunteers.
  • Experience monitoring accounts for a program.
  • Advanced computer skills, including Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint) and database software.
  • Experience with fundraising database ARBOR or related databases; experience maintaining databases and preparing reports from multiple data sources.
  • Excellent communication skills - verbal and written, with the ability to draft, proofread, and edit a range of written material.
  • Demonstrated initiative, tact, diplomacy, attention to detail, and creativity. Strong analytical skills.
  • Strong organizational skills and strong attention to detail.
  • Exceptional interpersonal skills and professional presence necessary to successfully interact with donors, alumni, senior volunteers, and stakeholders.
  • Occasional work evenings and weekends to attend events.
