About the Role

We are seeking a highly experienced Chief Safety Officer to join our team at Queen's University. As a key member of our organization, you will be responsible for ensuring the health and safety of our employees, students, and visitors.

Key Responsibilities
  • Leadership and Governance
    • Develop and implement a comprehensive health and safety strategy that aligns with the university's goals and objectives.
    • Provide leadership and guidance to senior management on health and safety matters.
  • Risk Management
    • Identify, assess, and mitigate risks associated with university operations.
    • Develop and implement policies and procedures to control and prevent disease or injury.
  • Compliance and Assurance
    • Ensure compliance with relevant health and safety legislation and regulations.
    • Conduct regular audits and inspections to ensure adherence to health and safety standards.
  • Employee Engagement and Development
    • Develop and implement training programs to enhance employee knowledge and skills in health and safety.
    • Provide guidance and support to employees on health and safety matters.
  • Communication and Reporting
    • Develop and implement a communication strategy to inform employees, students, and visitors of health and safety policies and procedures.
    • Prepare and submit regular reports to senior management on health and safety performance.
Requirements
  • Education
    • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience.
  • Experience
    • 5 years or more of experience in a health and safety leadership role.
  • Skills and Qualifications
    • Proven track record of developing and implementing effective health and safety strategies.
    • Strong leadership and communication skills.
    • Ability to work collaboratively with senior management and employees.
