We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Chief Safety Officer to join our team at Queen's University. As a key member of our organization, you will be responsible for ensuring the health and safety of our employees, students, and visitors.

Key Responsibilities
  • Leadership and Governance
    • Develop and implement a comprehensive health and safety strategy that aligns with the university's goals and objectives.
    • Provide leadership and guidance to senior management on health and safety matters.
  • Risk Management
    • Conduct regular risk assessments to identify potential hazards and develop strategies to mitigate them.
    • Develop and implement policies and procedures to ensure compliance with relevant laws and regulations.
  • Employee Engagement and Training
    • Develop and deliver training programs to ensure employees are aware of their health and safety responsibilities.
    • Engage with employees to promote a culture of health and safety within the organization.
  • Reporting and Compliance
    • Ensure accurate and timely reporting of health and safety incidents and near misses.
    • Develop and maintain relationships with regulatory bodies to ensure compliance with relevant laws and regulations.
Requirements
  • Education
    • Bachelor's degree in a relevant field, such as occupational health and safety or a related field.
  • Experience
    • At least 5 years of experience in a health and safety leadership role.
  • Skills and Qualifications
    • Proven track record of developing and implementing effective health and safety strategies.
    • Strong leadership and communication skills.
    • Ability to work collaboratively with senior management and employees.
