Norfolk County is seeking a highly skilled Court Administration Clerk to join our team in Simcoe. This temporary full-time position offers a competitive salary of $26.95-$33.65 per hour and the opportunity to work in a dynamic environment.

Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced administrative professional to provide support services to the Ontario Court of Justice, Provincial Offences Court, judiciary, prosecution, enforcement agencies, and various stakeholders. As a Court Administration Clerk, you will be responsible for providing high-quality front counter and telephone service, processing payments, recording court proceedings, and assisting with collection activities.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide exceptional customer service and administrative support to the court and its stakeholders
  • Process payments, prepare documentation, and balance financial records
  • Record court proceedings, endorse court dispositions, and arrange court matters
  • Assist with collection activities, including data entry and record-keeping
  • Prepare court orders, warrants, and other documents as required
  • Maintain accurate statistical reports and perform data entry tasks
  • Monitor and oversee the operation of PayTickets, collect statistics, and investigate unmatched payments
  • Develop and maintain spreadsheets and databases to track Part 3 Informations and work orders
  • Act as the emergency warden for the POA and lobby area
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Supervisor, Corporate Collections

Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • A post-secondary degree in a related field, such as court administration, legal administration, or business administration, plus over one year of administrative experience
  • Or a post-secondary diploma plus over two years' current related experience in court administration
  • Experience in scheduling and court clerking is an asset

Skills and Qualifications

  • Knowledge of principles, practices, and procedures of court administration and court clerking
  • Working knowledge of the Provincial Offences Act, Highway Traffic Act, Courts of Justice Act, and other related statutes and legislation
  • Computer expertise in Microsoft Office, with proficient skills in Excel and Word, and experience with department-specific software, including ICON and Liberty Digital Recording System
  • Ability to exercise discretion, judgment, and work independently with a high degree of accuracy and initiative
  • Proven multi-tasking skills, excellent interpersonal and conflict resolution skills, and good communication and organizational abilities
