Job Summary

The University of Waterloo is seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Graduate Advisor and Program Coordinator to provide exceptional support to graduate students in the Kinesiology and Health Sciences Department. This is a unique opportunity to work in a dynamic and collaborative environment, contributing to the success of our graduate students and the department as a whole.

Key Responsibilities
  • Coordinate graduate program activities, including course scheduling, thesis proposals, and comprehensive exams.
  • Provide academic advising to graduate students, including guidance on course selection, degree requirements, and thesis regulations.
  • Develop and maintain digital content for promotional materials and social media, ensuring a strong online presence for the department.
  • Coordinate events for prospective and current graduate students, including orientation and graduate recruiting activities.
  • Manage the Kinesiology Students LEARN page, Kinesiology Graduate TEAMs/Sharepoint site, and Kinesiology Graduate webpages.
  • Facilitate regular communication with the graduate student body, ensuring students are informed of departmental goals, objectives, and activities.
Qualifications
  • University degree or equivalent education, preferably in Kinesiology or a health-related field.
  • Demonstrated administrative experience in an academic department, with a focus on graduate student program coordination.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, with the ability to work collaboratively with students, staff, and faculty.
  • Proven ability to communicate effectively with graduate students, including those in crisis or struggling academically.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office suite and experience using UW specific programs such as LEARN, Quest, WCMS, and SharePoint.
