Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled Medical Office Administrator to join our dynamic team in the Telemetry Unit at North York General Hospital. In this role, you will provide administrative support, handle patient communication, and coordinate interdepartmental activities with a focus on delivering exceptional patient care.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide administrative support to the Telemetry Unit, including scheduling appointments, managing patient records, and coordinating interdepartmental activities.
  • Act as a patient liaison, responding to patient inquiries, and providing excellent customer service.
  • Represent physicians and healthcare professionals by screening and triaging incoming calls, scheduling appointments, and arranging referrals.
  • Compile and disseminate material related to program activity, maintain attendance and time reporting information, and arrange relief as needed.
  • Process computer provider order entries, notify staff, and maintain documentation.
  • Maintain organization of admissions, discharges, outstanding orders, and medication information.
  • Prepare reports and discharge instructions, photocopying, prioritizing, and processing information as required.

Qualifications

  • Ontario Secondary School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Medical office assistant certificate or minimum one year comparable office experience with medical orientation.
  • Working knowledge of medical terminology and ability to perform medical transcription.
  • Experience inputting payroll, timesheets, and staff schedules.
  • Demonstrated commitment to patient/client-centered care.
  • Accurate minimum typing speed of 45 w.p.m.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Experience dealing with the public in a fast-paced and customer service environment.
  • Experience on an inpatient unit preferred.
  • Bilingualism in French/English an asset.
