About the Role

The successful candidate will be an integral member of the Group Benefits team, contributing to the growth and development of the benefits department and the organization. As an insurance consultant, you will leverage your expertise to provide innovative advice and solutions to mid-large group customers. You will have a proven track record of building strong relationships and delivering exceptional results in the group benefits insurance industry.

Key Responsibilities

  • Promote strong client and prospect relationships through business interactions
  • Work with small and mid-size client accounts to develop and implement effective group benefits strategies
  • Provide client-specific advice and guidance on group benefits policy contracts and language
  • Meet with clients to present quarterly experience, financial updates, and marketing reports
  • Educate clients on group benefits and provide options for consideration
  • Provide consultative interpretation of various reports to support clients in making informed decisions regarding the benefit plan
  • Generate new business sales through prospecting and cross-selling initiatives
  • Prepare and deliver thorough benefit plan updates, including financial, plan design, and legislative information
  • Participate in the renewal negotiation process, prioritizing client needs
  • Participate in the RFP process, analyzing carrier submissions and coordinating finalist presentations
  • Work closely with other business teams at NFP to coordinate relationship management efforts with each client
  • Oversight and participation in other NFP projects and tasks as needed
  • Pursue career development through educational programs and seminars

Requirements

  • Life Licensed (LLQP) or must be obtained within the first 6 months
  • Minimum 5 years of group benefits insurance experience
  • Experience working in a relationship/business development role
  • Extensive knowledge and experience with group benefits policy contracts and language
  • Strong analytical skills, relationship-building skills, and negotiation and influencing skills
  • Strong oral and written communication skills, including business writing skills
  • First-rate presentation skills with the ability to engage and connect with an audience
  • Exceptional organizational skills with attention to detail
  • Ability to work under pressure and with tight deadlines
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, Word)
  • Bilingual (English/French) is an asset
