About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Fund Development Manager to join our team at VON Canada.

Job Summary

The Fund Development Manager will lead and implement fundraising activities in their regional area, aligned with the VON Canada brand and national integrated fund development and allocation framework and plan. This includes generating philanthropic support from individuals, corporations, and foundations, as well as overseeing and providing leadership to Fund Development Coordinators to assist in meeting departmental objectives.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Develops and executes a diversified annual fundraising program, with an emphasis on mid-level donors and planned giving, in collaboration with the National framework.
  2. Built short-term and long-term goals and objectives for donor retention and acquisition through centralized direct response programs.
  3. Identifies, qualifies, and cultivates prospects and donors, maintains, and reports on a prospect pipeline.
  4. Develops local solicitation, stewardship, and recognition plans for donors and prospects in keeping with the national framework.
  5. Utilizes data management systems (Raiser's Edge) to ensure accurate and timely recording of data and reporting fund development results.
  6. Leads, supports, and trains Fund Development Coordinators for successful management of fundraising activities.
  7. Participates as an active member of site management teams.
  8. Liaises with VON Canada Fund Development staff and works in partnership on various projects.
  9. Conducts prospect research, proposal writing.
  10. Coordinates various donor-related communication vehicles.
Education, Designations, and Experience

The ideal candidate will have a post-secondary degree in a relevant field of study, a Certified Fund Raising Executive (CFRE) designation, and a minimum of five years of fundraising management experience, including experience with Blackbaud products and supervising, planning, and executing fund development and marketing programs/campaigns in collaboration with staff and volunteers.

The candidate should also have experience working in an organization with both a national and local community dynamic, knowledge of fundraising processes, best practices, and current industry trends, and be fully conversant with CRA requirements as they apply to registered charities.

Skills Requirements

The candidate should be a highly proficient user of a fundraising database (Raiser's Edge preferable), have excellent verbal and written communication skills, be proficient in Microsoft Office software, and have the ability to work in a fast-paced work environment, multi-task, and balance competing priorities.

They should also have demonstrated ability to effectively structure daily work activity with minimal supervision, focused on the achievement of goals, excellent interpersonal skills, and the ability to develop relationships, and demonstrated skillsets in leadership and team building.
