About the Role

As a Front Desk Director at the Lord Nelson Hotel & Suites, you will be responsible for ensuring the efficient and profitable operation of our Front Desk. This role requires a dynamic and highly organized individual who can lead and motivate the Front Desk team to deliver exceptional customer service.

Key Responsibilities
  • Front Desk Operations: Manage daily operations, ensuring consistency and excellence in all aspects.
  • Team Supervision: Provide hands-on supervision to Guest Service Agents and Supervisors as they carry out their duties.
  • Policies and Procedures: Implement clear guidelines on Front Office procedures and policies, ensuring consistent adherence.
  • Guest Issues: Resolve guest complaints and concerns, communicating with the General Manager and relevant department heads.
  • Desk Coverage: Cover shifts and staff breaks as required, particularly during peak periods.
  • Communication: Maintain open communication with other department leaders, including Housekeeping managers and supervisors, Reservations, and Maintenance.
  • Occupancy and Revenue: Ensure the hotel achieves maximum occupancy while maximizing revenue through upsell programs.
  • Scheduling and Payroll: Issue bi-weekly schedules based on hotel and union requirements, ensuring adequate staffing according to expected business levels.
  • Special Reservations: Set up and prepare special reservations, such as group and package guests, in advance of arrival.
  • Training and Development: Build and develop a strong Front Desk team through ongoing training and performance management.
  • Error Resolution: Address performance issues promptly and consistently to minimize errors and maintain high standards.
  • Emergency Procedures: Implement and review emergency procedures to ensure the safety of staff and guests.
  • Administrative Duties: Carry out administrative tasks as required to maintain smooth Front Office operations.
Requirements
  • Education: High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Experience: Five years in a supervisory/management role, with at least two years in front office management.
  • Skills: Ability to train, develop, and motivate team members, working knowledge of Opera Cloud, Online travel agent portals, Word, and Excel.
Estimated Salary:

$70,000 - $90,000 per year, depending on experience.
