Job Description

  • Conduct market research to identify new companies that align with our P&C and adjacent business segments, focusing on Ontario.
  • Create relationship plans to advance relationships with identified prospects through regular follow-ups, ongoing communication, and relationship development activities.
  • Maintain a prospect database within our CRM with relevant information regarding prospects.
  • Track origination activity metrics and provide ongoing and periodic reporting to the Chief Corporate Development Officer.
  • Collaborate with other members of our management and professionals 'in the field' (e.g., business leaders, sales management, and consultants) to advance origination activities.
  • Participate in evaluating potential prospects/transactions, including qualitative (strategic fit and business risks/opportunities) and quantitative (valuation, financial analysis of income statement, balance sheet, and cash flow items) analyses.
  • Active participation in projects related to origination strategy, tactics, and operations.

Required Skills and Qualifications

  • A natural 'builder' and 'hunter' mentality; able to network, source, and develop relationships with potential M&A prospects.
  • Seasoned communication skills, including tailoring messaging to appeal to different potential acquisition prospects and determining the best mode and frequency of communication to maximize effectiveness.
  • Strong prioritization skills to manage many simultaneous initiatives, coupled with the ability to pivot quickly as demands change in real-time.
