About the Role

The Hamilton-Wentworth Catholic District School Board is seeking a highly skilled Communicative Disorders Assistant to join our team. As a key member of our Student Services department, you will play a vital role in supporting students with speech, language, and communication needs.

Key Responsibilities
  • Work collaboratively with Speech-Language Pathologists to deliver services to students with speech, language, and communication needs.
  • Support students who are nonverbal or low-verbal and use Augmentative and Alternative Communication (AAC) devices.
  • Develop and implement individualized communication plans to support students' communication goals.
  • Provide training and support to teachers and other school staff on communication strategies and AAC devices.
  • Collaborate with other school teams to develop and implement inclusive education practices.
Requirements
  • Post-graduate certificate in Communicative Disorders Assistant (CDA) program.
  • Experience working in a school setting, preferably with students with communication disorders.
  • Knowledge of AAC devices and software, including Boardmaker and MSTeams.
  • Excellent interpersonal, organizational, and documentation skills.
  • Valid driver's license and access to a reliable vehicle.
