The McMaster Children\u2019s Hospital Autism Program is an ambulatory service for children and youth with Autism Spectrum Disorder. This program has strong links to McMaster University\u2019s Departments of Pediatrics and Psychiatry, McMaster Autism Research Team (MacART) and the Offord Centre for Child Studies.

Job Responsibilities

The Behavior Therapist will develop and provide behavior reduction treatment services and supports to children and youth (up to age 18) who have a diagnosis of Autism Spectrum Disorder, and their families. Services may be provided in groups as well as individually. Parent workshops and training will be an integral component of the services. The Behavior Therapist will work as a member of an integrated service delivery team within the Autism Program.

Qualifications
  • Master\u2019s degree required. Focus of studies should be in human behavior and/or developmental psychology
  • Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA) certification in good standing required
  • Demonstrated skills in the areas of behavioral assessment, service coordination, and treatment planning with children and/or youth with a developmental disability.
  • Three to five years clinical experience in providing Applied Behavior Analysis services and supports to individuals with Autism Spectrum Disorders
  • Experience in providing education/training to caregivers of children and youth with ASD
  • Experience working as a member of a multi-disciplinary team
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Computer skills and experience with data management
  • Possession of a valid driver\u2019s license and use of a vehicle
  • Bilingual fluency in French would be an asset
  • Participation in a criminal reference screening process
  • Must be able to obtain a valid Vulnerable Sector Screen (VSS)
