At St. Joseph's Lifecare Centre, we are seeking a Part-Time Registered Nurse to join our team at Stedman Community Hospice.

Estimated Salary: $85,000 - $110,000 per year

Job Description

We are looking for a dedicated and committed Registered Nurse who will champion SJLCB's mission, vision, values, and policies.

The successful candidate will assume a lead role in providing high-quality end-of-life care to the residents at Stedman Community Hospice.

As part of the interdisciplinary team, the RN contributes to the development, implementation, and communication of the resident's care plan and reports any substantial findings and/or changes in resident's condition.

The RN will be a positive example and role model and will promote a resident-focused, goal-oriented approach to care, nurturing a home-like environment and in keeping with the Mission, Vision, and Values of St. Joseph's Lifecare Centre/Stedman Community Hospice.

Responsibilities:
  • Provide direct and indirect nursing care as required in collaboration with other health care workers.
  • Effective leadership using the nursing process to assess, plan, implement, and evaluate nursing care.
  • Advocate and support the patient and/or their SDM in achieving their directive for care.
  • Give direction for all aspects of residents care and give oversight to other members of the care team in accordance with the Regulated Health Professionals Act and the College of Nurses of Ontario Practice Standards.
  • Recognize, assess, and respond to resident health status changes.
  • Provide leadership to the team, working collaboratively with them to assess workload, assign caseload, and priorities each shift.
  • Create an environment and provide opportunities for the person and their family to exercise religious, cultural, and spiritual rituals, customs, rites, and beliefs throughout the person's illness and through bereavement.
Requirements

To be considered for this position, you must have:

  • Graduate of an approved Registered Nursing program.
  • Current CPR and First Aid certification.
  • A minimum of 2 years of experience in nursing, knowledge of hospice and palliative care is essential.
  • Fundamentals of Palliative Care certification.
  • Enhanced Fundamentals and the Comprehensive Palliative Education Program (CAPCE) certification.
  • CNA certification in Hospice Palliative Care Nursing or pursuing it.
