About the Role
We are seeking a passionate Business Development Manager to accelerate our growth in North America and help us establish our leadership in retail marketing. As a key member of our team, you will play a crucial role in driving our growth strategy within the retail & CPG sectors.
You will be responsible for identifying new business opportunities, cultivating client relationships, and expanding our market presence. You will work closely with our sales and marketing teams to develop and execute strategies that align with our business goals.
Key Responsibilities
- Sales Strategy: Develop and implement a comprehensive sales strategy to drive new client acquisition and expand existing accounts within the retail marketing sector.
- Client Acquisition: Identify and target potential clients, build relationships with key decision-makers, and secure new business opportunities.
- Sales Performance: Achieve sales targets by generating and qualifying leads, conducting presentations, and negotiating contracts. Monitor and report on sales performance to ensure alignment with overall business objectives.
- Collaboration: Work closely with the marketing and technical teams to leverage expertise, create compelling proposals, and deliver exceptional client solutions.
- Pipeline Management: Maintain and update a robust sales pipeline, tracking progress, assessing opportunities, and ensuring timely closure of deals.
- Prospecting: Populate and qualify prospect lists of companies and projects to pursue for new business development, and develop prospecting plans for major/Tier1 targets.
- Lead Generation: Engage in and support all marketing activities related to lead generation, including attending events and building professional networks to initiate contact with new prospects.
- Negotiation: Handle client negotiations in close collaboration with Altavia leadership until closing.
- Account Management: Lead the handover/kickoff process with Operations Account Managers/Client Service Managers to ensure that all administrative, operational, and financial activities are in place to ensure high levels of service to clients.
Requirements
- Experience: 6-8 years of proven experience in business development with a focus on retail marketing or a related field.
- Retail Experience & Connections: Deep understanding of the retail sector, including trends, challenges, and opportunities (focusing on medium to large-sized clients within the retail, banking, insurance, pharmacy, and CPG industries).
- Sales Skills: Strong track record in achieving sales targets and developing new business.
- Strategic Thinking: Ability to devise and execute strategic plans to drive growth and market expansion, with strong planning and organization skills to develop solutions by adopting a consultative sales approach.
- Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to build relationships and influence stakeholders.
- Negotiation: Proven skills in negotiation and closing deals, with a keen understanding of pricing and contracting policies.
- Self-Motivation: Highly motivated, with a proactive approach capable of working independently and as part of a team.
