The CNIB Foundation is seeking a Multilingual Guide Dog Mobility Specialist to join our team in Carleton Place, ON. As a specialist, you will play a crucial role in training and deploying guide dogs to support individuals who are blind or partially sighted.

Job Description

We're looking for a highly skilled and passionate professional who can deliver high-quality training programs to program participants, staff colleagues, and apprentices. The ideal candidate will have excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, in English and French.

  • Implement and deliver training courses that meet established standards and principles.
  • Pair trained guide dogs with participants based on their needs and lifestyle.
  • Assess and recommend dogs for the training program.
  • Provide aftercare services to ensure dog welfare and maximize pairing between guide dogs and handlers.
  • Develop mobility plans tailored to individual needs and expectations.
  • Act as an ambassador for CNIB Guide Dogs, promoting best-in-class service and professionalism.
Required Skills and Qualifications

To succeed in this role, you'll need:

  • A degree or diploma in a related field or equivalent work experience.
  • GDMI qualification or certificate recognized by the International Guide Dog Federation (IGDF).
  • Current valid driver's license.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with proficiency in both English and French.
  • Experience working with guide dogs and people with disabilities.
  • Ability to apply theoretical and practical knowledge of teaching and learning.
  • Collaborative and independent working style.
