About the Role:

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Warehouse Operations Manager to join our team at MacLean Engineering. As a key member of our operations team, you will be responsible for overseeing the day-to-day activities of our warehouse, ensuring that all tasks are completed efficiently and effectively.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Motivate and engage a team of employees to achieve optimal performance and productivity.
  • Maximize utilization and efficiency by ensuring the correct distribution of skills and resources.
  • Communicate clear goals, expectations, and instructions to team members, and effectively communicate with peers and other members of the management team.
  • Monitor workflow and review priorities to ensure timely completion of tasks.
  • Monitor, measure, and track team performance and accuracy, and report on same on a daily basis.
  • Ensure timely and accurate execution of cycle counts, inventory adjustments, and upkeep of shipping and receiving logs.
  • Approve timecards and review vacation requests based on production demands.
  • Monitor and act upon excessive absenteeism or chronic tardiness.
  • Review and assess the performance of employees on a one-to-one basis, during and after the probation period.
  • Coach, mentor, develop performance improvement plans, and deliver corrective action when necessary.
  • Prepare and present detailed, objective, and fair annual performance appraisals to each employee.
  • Monitor the quality of workmanship and hold employees accountable for same.
  • Delegate weekly health and safety inspections, and review monthly joint health and safety committee inspections.
  • Enforce the correct use of personal protective equipment and ensure safe work practices are followed at all times.
  • In the case of injury, ensure the employee receives prompt first aid treatment, prepare first aid reports, and investigate and prepare incident reports.
  • Prepare and deliver offers of modified duties, and work with the health and safety officer to develop a return-to-work program.
  • Conduct formal health and safety risk analyses, and develop and execute action plans as necessary to eliminate the risk of employee injury.
  • Provide new hire position-specific orientation, and deliver or ensure all new employees receive prescribed general and work-specific safe work training.
  • Conduct daily toolbox meetings, and monthly safety talks as necessary, to develop a safe work culture facility-wide.
  • Achieve profit enhancement through cost reduction by analyzing workflow, researching new methods and procedures, and formulating process improvements.

About You:

The successful candidate will have a positive attitude, be open-minded, willing to learn, and flexible. The following qualifications are required:

  • Minimum high school diploma or certificate of completion.
  • Diploma or degree in materials management or a related discipline is an asset.
  • Previous experience in an MRP/ERP environment is required.
  • Previous supervisory experience in a manufacturing environment is an asset.
  • Ability to effectively communicate with individuals at all levels of the organization.
  • Computer skills (MS Word, Excel, Outlook, MRP/ERP) are required.
