Role Purpose

The Franchise Development Specialist plays a crucial role within a national team dedicated to driving profitable growth in the Bank's franchising portfolio. This position focuses on expanding customer relationships and acquiring new franchise clients.

In this capacity, you will engage with local franchise owners, Centers of Influence (COIs), and Scotiabank partners to foster new customer acquisitions. You will be accountable for achieving specific goals established by your National Director, which encompass business development and strategic planning for the franchising sector.

Key Responsibilities

  • Promote a customer-centric culture to enhance client relationships and utilize broader Bank resources.
  • Develop new relationships with franchise business owners by:
    • Executing relationship-building initiatives that generate sales opportunities and provide value to clients.
    • Onboarding new franchise clients and transitioning them to appropriate service branches.
    • Identifying and addressing the business and personal banking needs of clients.
    • Collaborating with Wealth Management Financial Consultants to ensure a comprehensive solutions approach.
    • Assisting Scotiabank partners in marketing strategies and facilitating high-value franchise transactions.
    • Responding to inquiries for business banking solutions and conducting necessary due diligence.
    • Negotiating terms for financial products and services in line with Bank policies.
    • Providing clients with clear expectations regarding service setup and ensuring timely execution.
  • In a proactive capacity, expand the assigned market area business banking portfolio of high-value franchise clients and COI relationships to achieve substantial growth.
  • Maintain a thorough understanding of local franchising dynamics, including financial positions and service terms.
  • Offer specialized franchising insights and financial advice to empower business owners.
  • Foster and maintain relationships with COIs, including influential customers and referral sources.
  • Manage market area credit portfolios while adhering to acceptable risk levels.
  • Contribute to the financial and operational objectives of the assigned market area.
  • Uphold Bank security protocols and compliance with regulatory standards.
  • Understand the Bank's risk management framework and incorporate it into daily operations.
  • Strive for operational efficiency while ensuring compliance with risk management policies.
  • Encourage a high-performance environment and support an inclusive workplace culture.

Qualifications

  • Post-secondary education in finance, business law, or related fields, or equivalent experience.
  • Experience in franchising, either educational or professional.
  • In-depth knowledge of business banking products and services.
  • Expertise in the franchising sector and local market conditions.
  • Familiarity with relevant software and technology platforms.
  • Understanding of risk management policies and procedures.
  • Proficient in business development techniques and marketing strategies.
  • Strong relationship-building and influencing skills.
  • Flexibility to adapt to diverse tasks and responsibilities.

Working Environment

This role primarily operates outside of a traditional office setting, engaging with clients and partners in various locations.
