Job Summary:

The Native Women's Association of Canada is seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Research Officer to assist with project activities as part of the Walking the RED Path project, addressing HIV and HCV among Indigenous women in federal correctional facilities in Canada.

Job Description:

The successful candidate will be responsible for assisting with project research activities, including reviewing research, literature, and reports. They will also assist in preparing presentations, materials, resources, and reports using qualitative and quantitative research methods.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist in project research activities, including reviewing research, literature, and reports;
  • Prepare presentations, materials, resources, and reports using qualitative and quantitative research methods;
  • Apply a culturally relevant gender-based analysis to all project materials, resources, and tools;
  • Develop project instruments, communications plan, monitoring and evaluation plan, and knowledge translation and dissemination;
  • Collect and analyze data;
  • Complete project activities;
  • Travel to project locations when required;

Requirements:

  • Undergraduate degree in health sciences, social sciences, or related studies;
  • Strong writing and verbal communication skills in plain language and academic styles;
  • Ability to carry out culturally-relevant gender-based analysis;
  • Ability to conduct research in cooperation and consultation with community members and project partners;
  • Comprehensive knowledge of Microsoft Office;
  • Familiarity with data analysis software;
  • Minimum two years' experience working/volunteering in Indigenous women's health, social programs, or correctional services;

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bilingualism is an asset;
  • Knowledge of the NWAC and commitment to its principles, values, and mandate;
  • Familiarity with implementation research;
  • Knowledge and understanding of contemporary issues facing Indigenous peoples in Canada, particularly those surrounding Indigenous women's health and the correctional system;
  • Familiarity and understanding of the social determinants of health;

Compensation:

The salary range for this position is approximately $60,000 - $80,000 per annum, depending on experience.
