Director of Indigenous Health Initiatives

We are seeking an exceptional individual to fill the role of Director, Indigenous Health, driving our efforts to improve cultural safety and humility in the health system.
About the RoleWe are committed to fostering meaningful relationships with First Nations, Inuit, and Métis governments, organizations, and agencies. The successful candidate will provide strategic leadership, vision, and expertise to advance our Indigenous Health Strategy, ensuring that our work reflects the distinct health and wellness contexts of these communities.
Key Responsibilities- Lead the evolution and implementation of our Indigenous Health Strategy, aligning with CIHI's mandate and priorities.
- Engage with First Nations, Inuit, and Métis governments, organizations, and agencies to build and nurture relationships, partnerships, and collaborations.
- Develop and implement plans and budgets for the Indigenous Health Strategy, ensuring effective resource allocation and management.
- Promote cultural safety and humility throughout CIHI, supporting staff development, engagement, and retention.
- Postgraduate degree in Indigenous Health, a health discipline, public administration, or related field.
- Progressive senior management experience in indigenous health, health information, research, or related fields, including staff management and development.
- Strong understanding of First Nations, Inuit, and Métis health and wellness contexts, including respectful approaches to engagement.
- Expert knowledge of contemporary and historical context influencing First Nations, Inuit, and Métis research and data governance, as well as appropriate approaches to data collection and use.
- Comfort with data analysis, supported by other CIHI experts with strong indicator development and analytic skills.
- Competitive salary range: $120,000 - $150,000 per annum, depending on qualifications and experience.
