Job Description

This senior indigenous researcher position is located at the University of Ottawa, a leading institution for academic excellence and innovation. As an Assistant Professor at the Faculty of Education, you will have the opportunity to work with a diverse group of students, faculty members, and staff from various backgrounds.

About the Position

The successful candidate will be responsible for teaching undergraduate and graduate-level courses in educational research, with a focus on indigenous education. You will also conduct high-quality research that contributes to the field of indigenous studies, with a particular emphasis on policy studies, health profession education, counselling psychology, and social studies.

In addition to your research and teaching responsibilities, you will participate in university service activities, such as committee work, mentoring students, and contributing to departmental initiatives. The ideal candidate will have excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, and be able to communicate effectively with diverse audiences.

Required Skills and Qualifications
  • A Ph.D. in Education or an equivalent degree in a related field
  • Excellent track record of research in educational research, particularly in indigenous education
  • Demonstrated ability to teach hybrid and online courses
  • Excellent communication skills in English, with passive knowledge of French
  • Ability to obtain external research funds from multiple sources
