Role Overview:

The Faculty of Science at Carleton University is seeking a qualified professional to fill the position of Senior Indigenous Health Specialist. This exciting role will be responsible for teaching courses, engaging in curriculum development, and supervising/mentoring students in the entry to practice competencies as defined by the College of Nurses of Ontario (CNO).

About the Job:

This tenure-track appointment will begin on April 1, 2025, and will involve a comprehensive range of responsibilities including teaching, research, and service.

Responsibilities:

">
  • Teach courses in Indigenous Nursing, including lectures, labs, and clinical placements.
  • Develop and implement innovative curricula that integrate advanced technology, experiential learning, and cultural humility.
  • Supervise and mentor students in the BScN program, providing guidance and support throughout their academic journey.
  • Contribute to the planning, design, and delivery of courses, ensuring they are aligned with the program's goals and outcomes.
  • Engage in ongoing program improvement and enhancement, including assessment, evaluation, and accreditation.
  • Support student recruitment and program promotion, promoting the value of the BScN program to prospective students and stakeholders.

Requirements:

  • PhD in nursing or a related field, with a focus on Indigenous Health.
  • Active Registered Nursing license in good standing with the College of Nurses of Ontario.
  • Demonstrated excellence in teaching, research, and service, with a strong commitment to advancing equity, diversity, and inclusion.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with diverse groups, including students, faculty, and community partners.
