Job Summary

Fleet Operations Assistant

The London Transit Commission is currently accepting applications for a Fleet Operations Assistant. The successful candidate will be responsible for servicing and cleaning of fleet vehicles, including minor repairs and maintenance. The ideal candidate will have one year of hands-on basic mechanical skills, experience working on vehicles, and a Grade 12 Diploma or equivalent. Additionally, the candidate must be able to work in a team environment, work midnight shifts, and have a valid G-class Ontario Driver's license with zero demerit points. The LTC will take care of upgrading the candidate to a C-class license.

Responsibilities
  • Service and clean fleet vehicles
  • Minor repairs to vehicles, including lights, mirrors, and wipers
  • Assist skilled tradespersons as required
  • Change engine, transmission, differential, and cooling system fluids
  • Remove and replace wheels and rims on fleet vehicles
  • Carry out service calls, bus change-offs, and out of service calls
  • Wash and clean plant, equipment, and fleet vehicles
  • Grounds maintenance, scrap and garbage removal, and maintenance of plant equipment
  • Operate forklift, skid steer, bobcat, sweeper/scrubber with proper training
