About the Opportunity

African Nova Scotian Affairs is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Program Director to lead the Land Titles Initiative. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for overseeing the delivery of this critical program, which aims to address the historical wrongs faced by African Nova Scotian settlers and provide them with clear legal documentation of land ownership.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the design, development, and delivery of reporting and accountability mechanisms to ensure the requirements and expectations of the Department are being met within the programs.
  • Lead and monitor the compliance of programs by analyzing reports and preparing summary and briefings to the Minister (interpreting policies and legislation).
  • Designated on behalf of the Minister to administer the Land Titles Clarification Act, to perform and exercise any of the powers, privileges, duties, and functions that the Minister is accountable to perform in accordance with the program/service area Act(s).
  • Utilize a broad knowledge of policies and programs to maintain effective and collaborative relationships with provincial, federal, and international governments, partners, and organizations.
  • Represent the Department on government, industry, public/private, inter-department, and internal committees, project teams, and at conferences and meetings.

Qualifications and Experience

To be successful in this role, you will require a Bachelor's Degree in a related discipline such as Commerce, Political Science, Arts, or a Master's in Public Administration or related field. You will also need several years of progressive, senior-level management experience, with a law degree being an asset.
