The Nature Conservancy of Canada is seeking a highly skilled Program Director to lead our land conservation efforts in Nova Scotia. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for developing and implementing effective conservation strategies to protect the region's natural features.

This is a unique opportunity to work with a broad range of partners, including provincial government departments and agencies, Indigenous Nations and organizations, conservation groups, and communities. You will be responsible for fostering strong partnerships and managing staff workplans and budgets related to program delivery.

The ideal candidate will have a degree in Ecology, Environmental Science or related discipline, with in-depth knowledge of Atlantic Canadian and Nova Scotian ecosystems and species. They will possess exemplary organization, planning, communication, and project management skills, as well as flexibility, reliability, self-motivation, and the ability to work both independently and as a leader with two or more direct reports.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement effective land conservation strategies to protect the region's natural features.
  • Foster strong partnerships with regional and local partners and communities in support of conservation goals.
  • Manage staff workplans and budgets related to program delivery.
  • Lead business planning process for securement activities, including developing and managing work plans and budgets.

Requirements:

  • Master's degree in Ecology, Environmental Science or related discipline.
  • 5+ years of experience in land conservation, with a focus on Atlantic Canadian and Nova Scotian ecosystems and species.
  • Proven track record of developing and implementing effective conservation strategies.
  • Excellent communication and project management skills.
