Emergency Services Coordinator

Job Summary:
The Regional Municipality of Wood Buffalo is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Emergency Services Coordinator to join our team. As a key member of our Public Safety Communications department, you will be responsible for receiving and evaluating emergency and non-emergency calls for service, dispatching personnel and resources, and providing critical support to emergency responders.
Key Responsibilities:
- Receive and evaluate emergency and non-emergency calls for service, prioritizing and dispatching personnel and resources as needed.
- Provide critical support to emergency responders, including providing caller information, dispatching units, and coordinating responses.
- Work effectively as part of a team, communicating with dispatchers, responders, and other stakeholders to ensure seamless emergency response.
- Maintain accurate records and reports, including incident reports, dispatch logs, and other relevant documentation.
- Stay up-to-date with changing emergency response protocols, procedures, and technologies, and apply this knowledge to improve emergency response outcomes.
Requirements:
- Emergency Medical Dispatch (EMD) Certification
- Emergency Fire Dispatch (EFD) Certification
- Incident Command Course (internal)
- Professional Radio Operators – Restricted Operator Certificate - Aeronautical
- Current Standard First Aid Level and level "C" CPR certification
- Criminal record check
Working Conditions:
This is a challenging and dynamic role that requires strong communication and problem-solving skills, as well as the ability to work effectively under pressure. The successful candidate will be required to work a variety of shifts, including evenings, nights, and weekends, and may be required to work in a fast-paced and dynamic environment.
