Overview


The Regional Municipality of Wood Buffalo is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Emergency Response Coordinator to join our team. As an integral part of our Public Safety Communications department, this role will play a critical role in ensuring the effective and efficient operation of our 911 network.



About the Role


This position requires a unique blend of technical skills, emergency response knowledge, and excellent communication abilities. The successful candidate will be responsible for receiving, evaluating, and responding to emergency calls for service, as well as performing various support duties related to the 24-hour operations of Public Safety Communications.



Key Responsibilities



  • Receive and evaluate emergency and non-emergency calls for service, utilizing IAED protocols to gather information and prioritize responses.
  • Dispatch personnel, Fire, and EMS units from appropriate fire stations, providing continuous communication with all RES units via radio or phone system.
  • Maintain accurate records relating to 911 responses, including reporting applicable information within fire department management systems.
  • Support and understand the Vision, Mission, and values of the Regional Municipality of Wood Buffalo.
  • Report as necessary to Shift Officers and Chief Officers on major events.

  • The ability to learn the functions of the position, work under stress, and act quickly in an emergency.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of community characteristics, geographic knowledge, and the ability to apply departmental policies and operational guidelines to specific situations.
