About the Opportunity

The Nova Scotia Health Authority is seeking a skilled Dietitian to join our team in providing exceptional patient care and nutrition services. As a key member of our Nutrition and Food Services team, you will be responsible for providing expert advice on diet and food and nutrition across all health sectors.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide leadership in team efforts to support the nutritional health of patients, including the prevention, detection, and treatment of malnutrition and medical nutrition therapy using the Nutrition Care Process.
  • Participate in the Dietetic Practicum and Internship program, including preceptoring and mentoring Dietetic Students.
  • Employ an evidence-informed approach to practice, staying up-to-date with the latest research and guidelines in the field.
  • Collaborate with healthcare team providers to ensure quality and continuity of care, and support a range of healthcare services.

About You:

  • You have a Bachelor of Science in Human Nutrition from a recognized University.
  • You have completed a Dietetic Internship Program.
  • You are registered (or eligible) with the Nova Scotia College of Dietitians and Nutritionists.
  • You have a minimum of one year of working experience as a dietitian, preferably in inpatient clinical nutrition.
  • You possess competency in dysphagia management, enteral and parenteral nutrition, and experience counseling patients.
  • You have demonstrated proficiency in Microsoft Office computer applications and effective interpersonal and communication skills.
  • You are able to prioritize, problem-solve, and work under pressure of time limitations.
  • You have demonstrated participation in continuing education and upgrading of skills.
  • You are able to work independently and collaboratively as a member of the interprofessional healthcare team.

Hours and Compensation:

  • This is a permanent part-time position, 70% FTE, 52.5 hours biweekly.
  • Hours may include days, evenings, weekends, and holidays.
  • The hourly rate is $43.43.
