Nutrition Specialist

The Nutrition Specialist is an integral member of the health services team, reporting directly to the Health Services Lead of Primary Health Care. This role involves collaborating within a multi-disciplinary environment to deliver advanced clinical expertise to the diverse patient population served by the Family Practices.
Key ResponsibilitiesThe Nutrition Specialist will:
- Provide comprehensive nutritional assessments and personalized education to individuals and groups.
- Act as a vital resource for nutritional counseling, facilitating client understanding and goal achievement.
- Utilize interdisciplinary and community resources effectively to support client needs.
- Engage in travel as necessary, requiring reliable transportation.
We are looking for candidates who possess:
- A Bachelor of Science degree with a major in Food and Nutrition.
- Completion of a dietetic internship.
- Membership or eligibility for membership in the provincial dietetic association.
- Preferred certification as a Diabetes Educator.
- Proficiency in current, evidence-based nutritional practices, particularly in chronic disease management.
- A strong foundation in health promotion and population health principles.
- Experience or a willingness to learn group facilitation and motivational interviewing techniques.
- Familiarity with electronic medical records is an asset.
- Competence in electronic communication and proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
This is a permanent full-time position, requiring 75 hours bi-weekly. Flexibility in scheduling is necessary, as shifts may include evenings, weekends, and holidays.
Compensation and BenefitsThe hourly wage for this position is competitive. Successful candidates may have access to a comprehensive benefits package, including health, dental, travel, long-term disability, and life insurance, along with a defined benefit pension plan.
