The Regional District of Fraser-Fort George is a local government that serves seven electoral areas and four member municipalities in North Central British Columbia. We are seeking a highly skilled professional to fill the position of Supervisor of Records, Information and Privacy.
About the PositionThis exempt role reports directly to the General Manager of Legislative and Corporate Services and is responsible for overseeing the Regional District's records, information management program, Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act (FOIPPA) requirements and requests, privacy management, and related organizational training.
The successful candidate will have a pivotal role in advancing the implementation of a new Electronic Document and Records Management System (EDRMS) and will support the overall development, application, and maintenance of the centralized Records Management Program.
In this capacity, the Supervisor will collaborate with other departments to develop and improve information governance practices and provide advice, training, and guidance to the management team, staff, and volunteer Fire Chiefs on FOIPPA and records management policies, procedures, and compliance.
Key Responsibilities- Act as the Freedom of Information (FOI) Coordinator and handle information requests, interpret and apply FOIPPA regulations, review and analyze complex data for release, and make recommendations;
- Assist in drafting and reviewing Privacy Impact Assessments;
- Collaborate with other departments to develop and improve information governance practices;
- Provide advice, training, and guidance to the management team, staff, and volunteer Fire Chiefs on FOIPPA and records management policies, procedures, and compliance;
- Completion of Grade 12 supplemented by education in Local Government Administration, Records Management, and Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy, or an equivalent combination of training and experience;
- A minimum of two (2) years progressive experience in the records and information management field, preferably in a local government or public sector environment;
- Ability to interpret and apply the provisions of the Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act and familiarity with the Local Government Management Association's (LGMA) Records Management Manual would be an asset;
