Job Summary

This permanent full-time position as a Genetic Counsellor is part of the UHN Genetics Program, which specializes in meeting the needs of individuals diagnosed with inherited conditions or at risk of developing them. As a key member of the Peter Munk Cardiac Centre team, you will be responsible for providing genetics care, working closely with cardiologists, cardiac genetic counsellors, and other healthcare professionals.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assessing Patient Needs: Conduct thorough assessments to identify the unique medical and psychosocial needs of individuals with inherited heart conditions, providing personalized counselling, education, and testing options.
  • Collaborating with Cardiology Teams: Work alongside multiple cardiology teams to provide genetics support, including ambulatory and inpatient services, fostering collaborative relationships to develop innovative models of genetics care delivery.
  • Administrative Duties: Perform administrative tasks to ensure effective case management, advocate for patients, and complete cross-functional duties, including data management and validation.
Requirements
  • A Masters degree in Genetic Counselling from an accredited institution.
  • Board Certification or Eligibility with the ABGC and/or CAGC.
  • 2+ years of experience in genetic counselling, preferably in cardiac genetics.
  • Excellent Communication Skills, both verbal and written, with ability to work independently and collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team.
