Building Automation Technician

About the Role:
We are seeking a highly skilled Journeyman Electrician to join our team at Ainsworth, a subsidiary of GDI. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for the installation, commissioning, and servicing of commercial building automation systems.
Key Responsibilities:
- Install, wire, and configure BMS and other electrical system equipment and components in compliance with electrical codes, standards, and regulations.
- Study plans, drawings, specifications, and work orders to determine work requirements and sequence of installations.
- Repair and maintain low-voltage systems (under 120V).
- Assist in delivering BAS solutions to our customer base within the Construction/Operation Department.
- Assist with site commissioning, point-to-point verifications, troubleshooting, and startup of various Building Automation Systems.
- Handle and be familiar with all testing and electrical repair tools and equipment.
- Perform tasks with minimal supervision and in accordance with ESC Health & Safety policies and procedures.
- Adhere to all company policies and procedures.
- Perform all job functions in a safe and healthful manner, abiding by and in accordance with all applicable Health, Safety, and Environmental company policies and government legislation/regulations.
- Adhere to the Company's Quality System operating procedures.
- Perform other duties as assigned by Management.
- Understand fundamentals of how HVAC systems operate on commercial buildings.
- Work with and understand HVAC and Digital Control fundamentals.
Requirements:
- Valid Driver's license.
- Fluent in English – both written and oral.
- The ability to read and understand construction plans and specs and product documentation.
- Medium physical duties, the ability to stand for long periods of time in a construction environment, the ability to climb ladders and at times work from heights.
- Good knowledge of the electrical trade and the Canadian Electrical Code.
- Adept at installing conduit and pulling wire.
