Job Summary:

The Supervisor, Counselling Operations, plays a pivotal role in overseeing the administrative operations of the Counselling Services Department at Langara College. Reporting to the Department Chair, this position is responsible for supervising Assistants in their day-to-day tasks and supporting the Counselling team. The Supervisor is an active contributor to the Counselling Services team, providing input in developing and implementing front-line procedures, policies, and protocols.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Supervise and support the Counselling team, ensuring the delivery of high-quality services to students.
  • Oversee the maintenance of a safe, inclusive, and welcoming student-facing working environment, in consultation with the Chair.
  • Develop and implement front-line procedures, policies, and protocols to support the Counselling Services team.
  • Provide input on the development of departmental procedures and protocols.
  • Supervise and evaluate the work of employees, ensuring they meet performance standards.
  • Manage confidential student files and maintain confidentiality.
  • Utilize clinical scheduling software, such as Titanium, to manage scheduling and operations.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with community members, including students, faculty, and staff.
  • Stay up-to-date with mental health policies and guidelines, and provide training and support to the Counselling team.
Requirements:
  • Two-year Diploma or Associate Degree in a related discipline, such as social work, psychology, or business administration.
  • Six years' recent relevant experience, including supervisory experience and experience working with clinical scheduling software.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and prioritize tasks effectively.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information.
  • Knowledge of mental health policies and guidelines, and experience working with students in distress.
Working Conditions:

This is a full-time position, Monday to Friday, 8:30am to 4:30pm. The successful candidate will be required to work in a dynamic and fast-paced environment, with frequent interruptions and deadlines.
